Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Folio Writer at app.foliowriter.com and related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

The service

Folio Writer is a collaborative manuscript writing tool. You chat with an AI model to draft and edit stories. You bring your own LLM API keys and choose which provider and model to use. We provide hosting, collaboration, and export tools.

Your account

• You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You may delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion removes your account and data we store, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Your content and API keys

• You retain ownership of manuscripts, chat content, and other material you create.
• You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display your content solely to operate the service (including sending it to your chosen LLM provider when you request generation).
• You are solely responsible for your LLM API keys, usage costs, and compliance with your provider’s terms.
• Do not upload unlawful content or material that infringes others’ rights.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users’ accounts.
• Use the service for spam, malware, or illegal activity.
• Scrape or overload our systems beyond normal use.
• Misrepresent generated AI output as human-written where doing so would violate law or mislead others in a harmful way.

Collaboration

When you invite others to a chat, they can view and participate according to their role. You are responsible for whom you invite. Leaving a chat removes your access; if you are the last member, the chat may be deleted.

Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practical. The service is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, loss of data, or costs arising from your use of third-party LLM providers. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (currently zero for the free tier).

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk. On termination, your right to use the service ends; account deletion is available in Settings.
